Reviewing a GMS Cancer referral

Danger

The clincial interpretation of referrals and variants should follow your local best practice guidelines

The GMS Interpretation Portal enables users to review a GMS Cancer Referral in NGIS using a simplified workflow, as well as using the Cancer DSS. In the following tabs, we offer an overview of these approaches.

Interpret your referral without Cancer DSS

The following video provides an overview of how users can review a GMS Cancer Referral. Find additional information in the tabs.

  1. Identify referral from the Referral Grid's "To Be Reviewed" tab.

  2. Find the information uncovered by the Bioinformatics Pipeline in the Variant Summary section, Primary and Secondary HTMLs.

  3. Complete the Reporting Outcomes Questionnaire from the Feedback Forms section, by reviewing the Summary of Findings V1.

Interpret your referral with Cancer DSS

Cancer DSS provides more functionality that is not present in the Interpretation Portal. If you wish to interpret your referral using these services, you can link to it from the Cancer Referral Overview page

Interpretating a Case in the Cancer DSS

When interpreting a case with the Cancer DSS, a new Summary of Findings will no longer be generated and sent to the Interpretation Portal. The HTML report generated by the bioinformatics pipeline will be used as a summary of findings, interpretations can be captured in the cDSS at a variant level. Please see the cDSS user guide for further information. To close the case, users will still have to complete the Reporting Outcomes Questionnaire.
